Florida beaches make great pics!!

Florida beaches make great pics for weddings and vacation photos. My family went to Holmes Beach, FL back in May to celebrate my brother Matt’s wedding. While our whole family was down there we decided to take a family photo. So early one morning we rounded up the troops and headed to the beach in coordinated attire, thanks SJ for the suggestions. We took several photos to make sure we didn’t get any walkers in the background. And here are the results of much patience and a beautiful family!

FYI… Drury Studio will travel to Florida for your destination wedding or family portraits! I highly recommend Florida for a vacation as well!

The Baby Whisperer…

Since the beginning of Drury Studio my wife, Sarah Jane, has helped me on location with the babies I photograph. She has an amazing ability to hold them tight and get them to calm down when the fussy. I love to watch my wife’s mothering abilities rise to the surface and bring peace to any shoot. I love having her on location with me and I’m not the only one that enjoys her presence. Here is what one family said about SJ, “Tim’s wife, Sarah Jane, was instrumental in helping us capture some great shots of Nathan throughout his first year! She was never shy about making goofy faces or crazy noises to get our little guy to smile. She also served as a happy carrier of blankets, toys and other props as we changes scenes at our venues. She did everything with a smile and definitely made the sessions enjoyable and easy!”

At our last baby session I stumbled on a new pose for babies. In the process I had this odd moment where I realized my wife was actually one of the props. SJ got a chance to hold little Hudson in a blanket and allow me to photograph him sleeping. The follow pictures are proof that she does an excellent job as a backdrop/assistant and the baby whisperer! Notice how sound a sleep Hudson is in the second photograph.

Baby First Year Package

Have you wondered about a baby gift for your friends or family? Would you like to have several of your baby’s life milestones captured forever? Have you ever thought that your baby is growing up to quick and I need to clench every moment as they growing up?

If you answered yes to any of these question then our Baby First Year Package is just for you. This package has 5 photo sessions: newborn, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 1 year. Also you will receive a free 8×10 from each session and 16×20 storyboard at the end of the year. You can purchase this package for $625 ($400 is due up front and the rest will be due at the 9 month session). This is a great way to capture memories from the first year!

Wedding Magazine

This past winter I received a package in the mail from Kellie Penn of Across the Miles Photography. I had no clue what was in the package, but if Kellie was sending me something to do with photography then it most be good. Well it was a great surprise to see inside and see the 2009 Winter edition of Limited Weddings, a Decatur, IL bridal magazine. There was a sticky note that said, “look at the back”. So I turned the magazine over and what did my eyes see… our work. Several our photos where featured in an advertisement for The Beach House. The Beach House is my favorite reception site in the Decatur. It over looks the beautiful lake Decatur and has amazing food as well! Here is a look at the magazine.

Kellie and I will be teaming up to shoot 6-7 weddings this year. It is so much fun to watch others get married and to be apart of their incredibly special day. Be looking for wedding photos on the blog starting in June!

Glitches…

Now that the studio computer is back up and running and we don’t have any more glitches with photoshop you will be seeing more posts. I am getting caught up from the end of last year. Too many session and not enough hours in the day. Enough whining about things…

I apologize for the lack of posts lately. The studio computer has been getting an upgrade on it’s hardware. This computer should allow work flow to go faster but in the mean time it has halted editing and emails. Thank you for your patience and we will be up and running again after the new year.

New Site

Ladies and Gentlemen! May I please have a drum roll?

The new Drury Studio site is finally up! You will be able view samples/sneak peeks much larger now. You can throw away that magnifying glass you used to use to view our blog. We will be working over the next month to bring all old posts up to the new viewing size. Also there is a direct link to the client viewing page for the studio website. If you have ordered previously from our Studio you will recall waiting on an email and then following a link, complicated. Now it’s simple. Click client log-in, find your gallery and enter the password to view your proofs. If you have been following the blog for a while you have only seen photos on the blog. You will begin to see more print and graphic design work as well as video work blogged on the site. Be watching for the new pricing on graphic, print, and video work. Matt does an amazing job on all those items and you definitely will want this guy designing or shooting something for you.

Speaking of design, if you like the site email Joe McGill (joemcgill@gmail.com), the site designer, and get your blog custom-designed today. The neat part about working with Joe is that he really listens to his clients and custom-makes a blog style to each client. For instance, all the photos you see on the site including the floor background image are all photos taken by our studio. Joe used them to showcase our work. Hip To Be Square!

As of yesterday we offer square prints as a printing option. You might ask yourself, “Why would I want to print a square photo?” Well there are multiple reasons…

1.) They offer a different perspective of a photograph. 2.) Many custom frames, such as “Dad’s Little Buddy” or “I love mommy!” frames are made to display square prints. 3.) They are just really cool!

So you might be asking what do these trendy, ultra cool, square prints cost. Funny you should ask… we just updated our pricing page today with the new pricing, but in case you haven’t made it over to that page take a look at following pricing table:

New Business Cards

Today when I check the mail I found a great surprise, my new business cards! I have been dreaming about and waiting for these cards and now they are finally here. The new cards are not only a great way to get the studio name out in the hands of the public but they are a great way to display some incredible photos. Each card has a image from a different photo session. The photos incorporate all the different types of portrait work that we do at Drury Studio – wedding, baby, children, senior, and couples photography. Studio Wedding Album

Over the course of the winter I have been building my resources and one of the resources is an album manufacturer from Bend, Oregon called AsukaBook. AsukaBook was one of the first companies to offer professional quality coffee table style printed books for photographers. They offer a superior product with a polished look and feel that is very popular with photographer’s clients. I personally wish I would have known about AsukaBook when I got married five years ago. Tonight’s post will be sharing the the design layout for the studio wedding album. When I receive the album I will post the pictures of the actual product. The follow layouts are from my first studio wedding album. Enjoy the layouts and hopefully you will be able to enjoy one of these beautiful albums on your own coffee table.
