Vacation…

Last week my family and I went on vacation to Table Rock Lake near Branson, MO. I had a great time and really completely unplugged from all technology. I put my cell phone on the dresser and checked it once a day. I put all my email address on vacation mode… if I haven’t got back to you yet sorry. I was able to spend quality time with Sarah Jane and Ella. I do have to confess I took my camera with me on the trip. I’m glad I did because I was able to capture an amazing evening shot leading into a beautiful sunset. Take a look…

This photo is actually about 12 photos put together in photoshop. All the editing was down by my little brother Matt. He is a photoshop ninja! When I look at this photo it just reminds me of peace and quiet, many laughs, and great memories. I can’t wait until next summer’s vacation!

Senior Prom

Jeff, a senior, called me this year to take his prom photos. This was a fun session to shoot. It reminded me of a mini wedding session because the students around this area wear tuxedo’s and evening gowns to their prom. So with that being said, some of the pictures below have a little bit of wedding day feel to them. Thanks Jeff and Anna for a fun afternoon and a lot of laughs!

Christmas Cards

One of my favorite traditions of Christmas is receiving cards from my friends and family. I look forward to seeing the latest photograph of distant relatives and friend’s new babies. I really enjoy when friends and family include a “year in review” letter in their card and they let you in on all the major moments in their life over the course of the year.

Today I received a card from the McGill family. If you recall I took their family portraits back in early November. They decided to use some of the images from that session on their Christmas card. It was so neat to see them use the images to bless others this Christmas. I hope you enjoy their Christmas card as much as I do.

Jingle Bell Run

Does running sound like fun to you? What about running in freezing cool weather with a jingle bells around your neck or tied to your shoes?

Well I had the opportunity last Saturday to cover the annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Greater Illinois Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation where folks came out to run/walk 5k to raise money for the Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control and cure of arthritis and related diseases. The Arthritis Foundation is the largest private, not-for-profit contributor to arthritis research in the world, funding more than $380 million in research grants since 1948.

The Jingle Bell Run/Walk® is a fun and festive way to kick off the holidays by helping others! Participants wore holiday themed costumes and tied jingle bells to their shoelaces. These runners and walkers hit the pavement, pathways of Gordon Moore Park to fight arthritis, the nation’s most common cause of disability. Here are some pictures of the day fun day!

If you love art this coming weekend’s (October 18 & 19, 2008) event is right up your alley. ARTEAST is an event designed to showcase the artists who live and work in Madison County, Illinois. Artists from this region participate by opening their studios to the public or participating in exhibits. Over 200 artists working in a wide range of disciplines including collage, painting, ceramics, photography, printmaking, sculpture, glass and digital media show their work and demonstrate their craft. The venues (where the art is displayed) include buildings with historical or architectural interest, as well as local art galleries and shops.

Organized as a self-guided tour for patrons, ARTEAST provides an opportunity to get a glimpse into the workspace, inspiration and techniques of our resident artists, while exploring the neighborhoods, historic city centers and beautiful countryside. During ARTEAST you might decide to studio hop, stroll the downtown areas or embark on a mission to uncover that “must find” piece.

I will be showing my pieces at the Flanigan Law Offices in Edwardville, IL. The address is 120 N. Main St., Edwardsville, IL. This weekend’s work will only feature one portrait, my daughter Ella when she was only 4 weeks old. The other pieces are a result of my obsession to capture the small details of life. Here are a few of the pieces I will be showing this weekend.
