Florida beaches make great pics!!

June 10th, 2011

Florida beaches make great pics for weddings and vacation photos.  My family went to Holmes Beach, FL back in May to celebrate my brother Matt’s wedding.  While our whole family was down there we decided to take a family photo.  So early one morning we rounded up the troops and headed to the beach in coordinated attire, thanks SJ for the suggestions.   We took several photos to make sure we didn’t get any walkers in the background.    And here are the results of much patience and a beautiful family!

FYI… Drury Studio will travel to Florida for your destination wedding or family portraits!  I highly recommend Florida for a vacation as well!

The Baby Whisperer…

June 3rd, 2011

Since the beginning of Drury Studio my wife, Sarah Jane, has helped me on location with the babies I photograph.  She has an amazing ability to hold them tight and get them to calm down when the fussy.  I love to watch my wife’s mothering abilities rise to the surface and bring peace to any shoot.   I love having her on location with me and  I’m not the only one that enjoys her presence.  Here is what one family said about SJ, “Tim’s wife, Sarah Jane, was instrumental in helping us capture some great shots of Nathan throughout his first year!  She was never shy about making goofy faces or crazy noises to get our little guy to smile.  She also served as a happy carrier of blankets, toys and other props as we changes scenes at our venues.  She did everything with a smile and definitely made the sessions enjoyable and easy!”

At our last baby session I stumbled on a new pose for babies.  In the process I had this odd moment where I realized my wife was actually one of the props.  SJ got a chance to hold little Hudson in  a blanket and allow me to photograph him sleeping.  The follow pictures are proof that she does an excellent job as a backdrop/assistant and the baby whisperer!  Notice how sound a sleep Hudson is in the second photograph.

Sarah Jane thanks for working beside me and helping me capture wonderful photos for parents!  You truly are a gift to me.   Thank you for being the Baby Whisperer!

Ada Jane {Bethalto, IL}

March 25th, 2011

Little Ada turned one year old!  This little girl is such ham and beautiful subject to photograph.  We were able to do her 1 year session at place I have never shot before  – the St. Louis Magic House.  I have been there several time as a kid and have taken my nieces there as well, but I have never done a session there.  This session was technical challenging for me.  The settings on my camera where changing every several minutes as we changed locations through out the museum.   This was a way fun and cool way to celebrate Ada’s first birthday.  I would recommend taking your kids there if you have never been or it has been a while since you have been.  The Magic House is a St. Louis must!  Here are some photos from the session:

Anderson Warner {St. Louis, MO}

March 18th, 2011

God still does modern day miracles.  Little Anderson is one of them.  When you look at this little guy you would never know he was born premature.  During his photo shoot I got to hang out with Anderson’s dad, Jim.  Jim and I are long time friend and it was so neat to watch Jim interact with his son.  Jim your a great daddy!  I hope that Anderson will love Green Bay as much as you do some day.  But more importantly I hope that he will love Jesus more than you do.  Anderson,  God gave you some great parents.  Jim and Alisha I hope you enjoy your sneak peak!

Gone Home

January 23rd, 2011

Some things to consider…

  • Do you have any kind of spiritual beliefs?
  • To you, who is Jesus?
  • Do you think there is a heaven or a hell?
  • If you died tonight, where would you spend eternity?
  • By the way, if what you were believing is not true, would you want to know?

Today at 11:30am my friend Carrie Greene went home to heaven to be with her Savior and Creator.   Carrie for the last year has battled to fight Stage IV Juvenile Granulosa Cell Ovarian Cancer and today lost by the world’s standards but from God’s point of view she has won.   I remember one day, shortly after her diagnosis,  I got to visit with her in the hospital.  We exchanged some greeting and she told me a little bit about her treatment options and in our conversation I had to ask her a very pointed question – “Where would you spend eternity if cancer would take your life tonight?”  Carrie looked at me with a scared face and tears in her eyes and said,  “I don’t know.”  I responded, “Would you want to know how to spend eternity with Christ?”  She responded, “Yes.”   I pulled  a bible out of my pocket and ask her to read out loud the scriptures I had highlighted.  What I began to share with her are the scriptures below and after she read them I ask her this question, “What is God telling you?”   Please ask yourself the same question as you read these verses:

  • “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
  • “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
  • “In reply Jesus declared, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again’” (John 3:3).
  • “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6).
  • “That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, ‘Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame’” (Romans 10:9).
  • “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
  • “And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again” (2 Corinthians 5:15).
  • After reading these verses of scripture and discussing what Christ was saying to her.  I looked at her and I ask Carrie if she wanted to give her life to Jesus.  She looked at me with tears in her big brown eyes and said, “YES, I DO!”  We prayed and Carrie asked Christ to forgive her of her sins.  This moment will be forever etched in my memory.  I was able to help change someone’s eternity not just make them feel good or provide them with great memories through photos.  I am so thankful that on that day last May I was able to help Carrie be saved from her sin!  Tonight I know she is with Christ because her faith was real.  Tonight she is no longer in pain because she is with Jesus in heaven.  This was only made possible through her confession of sins and allowing Christ to forgive her and take control of her life.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,  who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.   In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.   These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.   Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,  for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” – 1 Peter 1:3-9

Where will you spend eternity if you die tonight?

Will you spend it in heaven with Jesus Christ or eternally separated from Christ in Hell?   If you said Hell it doesn’t have to be.  Call on the name Jesus and confess your sins to Him.  He is faithful to forgive all unrighteousness.

    Thankful for Freedom!

    January 7th, 2011

I am so grateful for the freedom we have in the United States of America.  I am thankful that I have rights to free speech, practice religion, own weapons, own land.  These rights were not free.  Soldiers have had to lay down their life for my freedom and yours through out our nations history.  Lance Cpl. Kenny Corzine did that for us.  Today I photographed the happens surrounding Kenny’s funeral.  It was an amazing site on Moreland Road today… thousands of people and American flags, soldiers, police officers, fire fighters, and citizens of the U.S.A. gathered to support the Corzine family.   Thank you Kenny for laying down your life!  Please remember freedom is NOT free as you look at photo gallery of today’s funeral – click here.

    Merry Christmas!!!

    December 27th, 2010

Christmas was a total amazing and wonderful morning around the Drury household.  We started our celebration by SJ and Ella making a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas Eve so we could sing happy birthday day to Jesus on Christmas morning.  When Ella got up we read the Christmas story, sang happy birthday to Jesus, and then released birthday balloons outside for Jesus.   We had a lovely morning together opening gifts and teaching Ella about Christ’s birth.

We spent the afternoon at my mom’s house with her side of the family.  While we where there I took Ella outside to play in the snow.  We made snowballs, snow angels, and snowman.  This was the first time Ella got to play in the snow.  She had so much fun she didn’t want to come in the house.  It was a great day of  building family memories, start traditions, teaching, and enjoying family.  Below are some of the memories from this Christmas.

I hope you & your families have a wonderful Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of our Savior! I look forward to working with your families in 2011!
